Sideways Sliding and Nail Bitingly Close Times...Time Attack Snetterton

Snetterton, the final two rounds of the Time Attack 2012 season rolled around, and Bo Nielsen's chance to claim his hat-trick Time Attack Championship title.

On Friday there was all fun and games at the track day. Some of the guys from Forge Motorsport who have been supporting Bo for the last three years came along for some passenger laps.

There was one fairly hairy moment, where the Astra's bottom ball joint snapped, and we saw Bo running back to the pit garage with no car........

He grabbed a mechanic and a few parts and headed out to fix the car trackside.

However, when he tried to drive back to the pits, there was no drive to the wheels, so a tow was needed.

Fortunately Bo had a great team around him, and back at the garage they found that the drive shaft had pulled apart.

Amazingly no damage had been done, and after a quick inspection and re grease, the shaft was reassembled and fitted, and once again Bo was back on track.

Saturday soon came, and as always the Time Attack drivers provided a weekend of awesome speeds, sideways sliding and some nail bitingly close times.

Of course there was the odd bit of what I'm sure was showing off for Togethia Media Service's benefit.

After the Forge Motorsport Action Day which saw Bo taking passengers out all day at Castle Combe in blistering heat, he knew his Vauxhall Astra VXR was ready for the challenge.

Saturday was a surprisingly warm and sunny day, and Bo headed out to practice with Danish confidence and all morning everything ran smoothly.

Qualifying saw Bo pick up the pace, setting a time to chase of 2.15 on the 300 circuit. Despite Simon Smail's best efforts, he couldn't catch the Astra.

The final was an exciting affair, with Bo's main rival David Ward continuing on his streak of bad luck.

Once again there were flames and a lot of smoke under the bonnet, and the red flag came.

With David Ward out of the running, Bo had to make sure he made the most of the re start to beat Simon Smail who was currently fastest in class.

Bo was back and he meant business, pipping Simon Smail to first place by 0.125 seconds.

Only a complete disaster stood between Bo and the Time Attack Championship title.
