Bo Nielsen, The Great Dane, Danish and Time Attack Champion 2012

Day two of Snetterton was cold and wet and most certainly like winter.

The pit garage was on a high, as Bo's neighbour Jamie Willson had already clinched the Club Pro Championship title with one more round to go, and for the Great Dane, his third championship was in sight.

What started as just a damp day, soon became a very very wet one, and with the wet came the drama.

Warm up and practice went off without much of a hitch, but qualifying was a different story.

Club qualifying was stopped, after Simon Smail's Focus dropped oil on the track for two laps.

Mike Cantello's V220 made some serious contact with the Amoco on the pit straight before the red flag came out.

If qualifying wasn't stressful enough, with some of the drivers dependent on the points for their final places, there was another spanner in the works.

During the time it took to chemically clean the track to ensure there were no more il related incidents, it was announced the session was now a wet one.

This meant that any of the times that were put in before the red flag were now void, and all of the drivers had to go out again.

For Bo, this wasn't the news he wanted.

The rain was coming down so hard, that it was now almost impossible to see.

With Simon Smail disqualified, it meant that all Bo had to do was to set a lap in qualifying to get the points he needed, to make the title his. So in true Bo style, that's what he did.

As the clock ticked down, there was less than a minute left of qualifying and some awesome driving when the red flag was once again brought out.

The poor visibility meant that Jonathan Morris had come out of the pit lane straight into an unsuspecting Marc Kemp who ended up in the barriers.

Fortunately all drivers were fine, and with some minor surgery the Green Goblin was back out for the final.

As we waited for the final, Bo had the full support of the Nielsen Clan, who he kept reassuring he was only going out to set a timed lap.

This may have been to keep his wife Sarra from having a nervous break down because we all know that Bo Selecta never goes out to 'just set a lap'.

Although the rain had eased, the track was still wet, but that didn't stop Mr Nielsen from going for it.

The Great Dane sealed the deal with a 1.40 in the wet conditions, claiming his consecutive FWD Championship.

The Dane couldn't stop smiling as he gave me a list of people he wanted to thank:

"This year has been a team championship. I want to thank my family, and Richard from AET and Will who have been at every round."

"I must thank my sponsors, especially Forge Motorsport who have consistently supported me for the last 3 years."

The big question that is on the competitors and supporters lips is will The Great Dane be back for Time Attack 2013?

"I'll be back, the car will be back and it will be the best it has ever been."
